This CD is a collection of songs from the various Final Fantasy CDs. It also includes arranged versions of several songs that were exclusive to this CD until they were re-released on the domestic N Generation CD.

Limited edition (first pressing): Comes in a thick cardboard box (much thicker and sturdier than any of the other slipcases) with the CD in jewel case, liner notes, and customer survey. Includes hardcover booklet (about the size of a jewel case) titled "Jinsei omou ga mama," written by Nobuo Uematsu. It contains Uematsu's essays on composing music and is all in Japanese. The CD and liner notes are the same as the SS version, except the catalog number on the CD is PCSN-9101. Also comes with obi around the box that says, "The Best of Final Fantasy" in English and Japanese.

Squaresoft version: Comes in a regular jewel case. The liner notes give brief information about the CD that each song came from. Includes customer survey card.

SonMay version: Comes in a regular jewel case. The title of the CD on the cover is printed in black. The liner notes content is the same as the SS version, except it does not include music and production credits that were in the SS version.

EverAnime version: Comes in a regular jewel case. The title of the CD on the cover is printed in yellow. The liner notes content is the same as the SS version. Includes customer survey card.

Interesting notes:

Okay, about the above square. ^_^ The liner notes' cover is beige, with the CD title embossed. No other color is used, so from a distance it looks like there's nothing on it. The scanning didn't pick up the embossing, and unless I fool around a lot with the contrast, it won't show up. So I've decided to give up and just leave it as just a beige square. ^_^
The date of release on the Squaresoft re-release is listed as 12/10/94 (the date of the original Squaresoft release), although it was actually re-released on 10/1/04.
