Contains music from Final Fantasy VI for the Super Nintendo (Super Famicom), originally released as Final Fantasy III in the U.S. The game has been re-released several times. I believe the music doesn't change from game to game, but in the Final Fantasy Anthology release, there is some extra music during the FMV scenes that is not found on any soundtrack.

    First pressing:

Comes in a double-CD jewel case, with a slipcase that has the FF6 logo in front. Does NOT have an obi. The liner notes' style and content are the same as the Squaresoft version. Comes with an extra sheet that fits inside the jewel case; it has the FF6 logo and Amano art of Edgar on the cover, and inside is Amano art of Terra and the words, "...but I still don't know what love is." In the scan of the slipcase front, you can see a sticker on the upper-left corner that was on the outside plastic shrinkwrap. Part of the sticker translates roughly to: "First-pressing special favor: Yoshitaka Amano FF6 original pinup included." Also comes with customer survey card.

    Squaresoft version:

The CDs come in a double-CD jewel case, with a slipcase that looks the same as the first pressing. Does NOT have an obi. The liner notes are about as large as the jewel case and so do not fit inside it; they have the FF6 logo and an Amano picture of Terra on the cover. Strangely enough, the liner notes paper feels flimsier than the first pressing's. They contain the tracklist, with main names in English with Japanese (kana) translations; a synopsis of the game storyline; Amano illustrations of various FF6 characters; a message from Nobuo Uematsu; and an interview with Uematsu and Hironobu Sakaguchi.

    Squaresoft re-release:

Everything from the jewel case to the slipcase to the CDs is basically the same as the Squaresoft version. Barring any corrections or slight text changes that might have been made in the liner notes that I didn't catch, the content and style of the liner notes and the music are the same as the SS version. The only real differences are the new catalog number, and some text additions to the back of the re-release liner notes, which you can see by comparing the various scans.

    SonMay version:

Each CD comes in individual jewel cases with individual obis, with their respective tracklists printed on the back covers in English and kana. (I don't have a scan of Disc 3's obi.) None of the CDs have liner notes. Each also comes with a sticker of the FF6 logo (measuring about 2.25 by 4.4 inches) and a customer survey card. Disc 1 has a playtime of 54:11, disc 2 is 57:26 and disc 3 is 72:11, all of which are only because a few extra seconds of silence have been tacked on to some of the tracks.

    EverAnime version:

Comes in a double-CD jewel case with an obi. Does NOT come with a slipcase. Disc 1 has a picture of Edgar, disc 2 has a half-body picture of Celes, and disc 3 has a 3/4 picture of Celes. The liner notes fit inside the jewel case, and are in the same style and have the same content as the SS version. The tracklist in English and kana is also on the back of the jewel case. All 3 discs show the exact same playtimes as the SM version, which makes me think EA simply copies off SM's discs or that they shared recordings.

Interesting note: The date of release on the Squaresoft re-release is listed as 3/25/94 (the date of the original Squaresoft release), although it was actually re-released on 10/1/04.

The main track names on this soundtrack are in English, with Japanese (kana) translations included as secondary. Titles with a star ( * ) on front of it is also found on the FF Anthology CD.
